Take a quick look and the cuties below. Precious, right?
But for reals, parents, I get it. The family picture process isn't always easy.
These are my children. We don't wear perfectly coordinated clothes everyday. My son will only wear a jacket in the middle of summer. Not just wear it, but insist on wearing it. And my daughters, always adorable, but... #1 cannot sit up straight to save her life, daughter #2 doesn't understand why her super-short shorts (that look exactly like underwear) don't suffice as the shorts/leggings needed for under her dress (or is it a long shirt?), and daughter #3 is most comfortable in screen print shirts and character hats.
I get the frustrations that come with getting the family ready for picture day, and the stress you feel trying to get everyone looking at the camera and smiling (or at least not crying) at the same time. The lady meditating in the garden (or trying to) for the twenty minutes it took to get a couple good shots, yeah, she gets it too. I would be lying if I didn't admit the only reason all four of my children are sitting on these steps is because the dogs we are watching (not our dogs) were going to be in the picture. (Thank you friends and editing software!)
I get it, BUT... I love my kids. Having a chance to capture their personalities at each phase in their life is a joy. When I look at these pictures, I forget the stress and the imperfectness of everything. Seeing them for who they are, it warms my heart. Truth be told, I could study their faces for hours.
I want to remember the details.
It isn't always easy, but it is always, always, definitely worth it.
