It Isn't Always Easy ~ The Cutest Kids on the Planet, Portland Oregon

Take a quick look and the cuties below.  Precious, right?

But for reals, parents, I get it.  The family picture process isn't always easy.

These are my children.  We don't wear perfectly coordinated clothes everyday.  My son will only wear a jacket in the middle of summer.  Not just wear it, but insist on wearing it.  And my daughters, always adorable, but... #1 cannot sit up straight to save her life, daughter #2 doesn't understand why her super-short shorts (that look exactly like underwear) don't suffice as the shorts/leggings needed for under her dress (or is it a long shirt?), and daughter #3 is most comfortable in screen print shirts and character hats.

I get the frustrations that come with getting the family ready for picture day, and the stress you feel trying to get everyone looking at the camera and smiling (or at least not crying) at the same time. The lady meditating in the garden (or trying to) for the twenty minutes it took to get a couple good shots, yeah, she gets it too.  I would be lying if I didn't admit the only reason all four of my children are sitting on these steps is because the dogs we are watching (not our dogs) were going to be in the picture.  (Thank you friends and editing software!)

I get it, BUT... I love my kids.  Having a chance to capture their personalities at each phase in their life is a joy.  When I look at these pictures, I forget the stress and the imperfectness of everything.  Seeing them for who they are, it warms my heart.  Truth be told, I could study their faces for hours.

I want to remember the details.

It isn't always easy, but it is always, always, definitely worth it.

Outdoor Family Session ~ Portland Rose Garden, Portland Oregon

I can't believe that the summer is almost over!  Have you noticed that the leaves in the trees are already changing color!?  I think it going to be a beautiful September for pictures!  I am trying to get my schedule up asap but please send your inquires to crystalpettitphotography@gmail.com if you are interested in booking sometime this fall.

This was a fun little session at a beautiful location.  I had some friends in town that I hadn't seen in awhile.  We had a playdate at Washington Park and took the opportunity to snap a few pictures of all these adorable cousins at the Portland Rose Garden.. It was the perfect excuse to try out the location before deciding if I should start offering sessions there.  With all the beautiful light and gorgeous scenery, I think that is a YES!!! Anyone interested in being my first session!?

Take a look at all the cuteness below.

Outdoor Extended Family Photo Session ~ Cook Park, Tigard Oregon

55 years of marriage is big deal!  I was delighted when this family contacted me to arrange a family session during the weekend of Grandpa and Grandpas's 55th wedding celebration.  We met up for an outdoor photo session at Cook Park, in Tigard, OR.  The natural light was perfect for the evening, and the family was wonderful to work with.  This is definitely one of my favorite spots to shoot.  Come take a look at photos below!

Outdoor Family Pictures ~ Rood Bridge Park, Hillsboro Oregon

Family sessions can be so much fun.  These two little girls made our time together just fabulous!  My new clients and I met at one of my favorite locations, Rood Bridge Park in Hillsboro, Oregon.  We spent a good hour casually strolling through the park and stopping to capture some precious moments between the family members.  With the beautiful summer backdrop and a family to match, it was hard narrowing their photo gallery down to just a few of my favorites.  I hope you don't mind that there are more pictures than normal!  There was just too much adorableness, I couldn't help myself.  Come take a look for yourself, and scroll through the pictures below.

Family Photos ~ Private Residence, Lake Oswego Oregon

Going back to work after a month of vacation is never fun... never fun unless you are a child and family photographer!  Photographing a group of eight children is risky business, but this group of photogenic cousins made my job easy.  We met at a private residence in Lake Oswego, and they had me smiling the whole time.  It was so much fun letting the kids coordinate themselves, and helping them to execute their own ideas for the pictures.  Scroll down to take a look at all the cuteness in the photos below.
