The Last Give Away for the Year!

This is the last give away of the year.  There are 3 items to be given away.

1.  One or more gift certificates from Crystal Pettit Photography.  YOU determine the amount (up to $275 per each).  $1 will be added to the gift certificate amount for every person who enters.  An additional $1 will be added for each comment or share on the facebook give away photo/post for the give away.

2.  A beautifully handcrafted, beaded bracelet from Lanai Kinsky. (It's currently on my wrist for sizing and I'm going to have a hard time taking it off!;) I would describe it to fit as a woman's M size.
3. An originally handcrafted heart charm from A Hernandez.  This guy's work is amazing!  I wish I could link to his page (still trying to connect with him).

Winners will be selected by random at 11:59 P.M. next Sunday night, 12.21.14.

Help me make this give away a success by commenting and sharing!  It's easy and fun, especially for the three (or more;) people who will win!  I can't wait to see who that will be!

Ever After Resale Fall Event

Once every spring and fall I have the privilege of doing a simple studio set up at the Ever After Resale Events in Beaverton, OR.  It is a ton of fun for me, and parents love it because it includes an absolute free sitting!  There is no session fee, but each image can be printed at low cost from my website or downloaded for only $10 each.  I meet a lot of new families, but it is super exciting to see familiar faces too.  There were a few this year and some even had a new sibling!

I was a little uncertain of how the Burnt Orange backdrop would do, but paired up with my brand new chevron chair from Target and a new floor option, I think it worked well.  I think I might have sold more chairs for Target (talk about popular!) than future Photo Sessions, but I am pleased with the turn out.  Here is a little preview of all the cuties I was able to photograph this year.  Enjoy the cuteness!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

I checked the forecast the night before, everything looked good.  Although it was overcast driving to meet this family, I didn't expect to encounter a downpour on the way to our location.  This has been my third year taking this family's photos.  It is so much fun seeing how the boys have grown each time, so when the rain drops started cascading down my windshield, my heart sank a little.  On the phone with Mom and we discussed the options.  We could either reschedule or go ahead and shoot.  We decided to meet and wait out the rain.  Fortunately, we didn't have to wait at all.  The rain had nearly stopped once the family had arrived, and we went for it!  It stayed dry the whole time!  It was a perfect Half Session at Dawson Creek Park in Hillsboro, OR...with a ton of cuteness!  So thankful!

Lake Oswego Wedding Portraits

It has been a busy summer.  Even with my modest photo schedule I have somehow fallen behind on blogging.  In part, that has to do with how quickly I like to get my clients images to them.  In most cases these days I have been able to get each gallery up the same day of the session and CD's out within a week.  I simply forget to blog once the job is done!

Here is a little sample of Wedding Portraits I was able to do at the temple in Lake Oswego a couple weeks ago.  The light was perfect and the weather was gorgeous.  It made taking the photos and completing the gallery a simple process.  The Bride and Groom had another ceremony to prepare for the following day so we made the session short and sweet.  While I do love taking family photos, taking these shots at this location was a nice change for me!

Best Wishes to the Bride and Groom!

BEEautiful Baby Girl! (and family;)

Nothing quite warms my heart like seeing old friends with their new babies!  I had the opportunity to snap a few quick maternity photos for this family at a park last year.  This year we met up at a local university in S.E. Portland.  It was super exciting for me to get to be able to meet Baby Girl.  She wasn't too excited about me though!  She just wanted to explore the environment.  She pretty much dominated the picnic basket and showed us how she can stand all by herself even at just 9 months old!  Towards the end of the session, the bees decided we had imposed on their territory for too long.  Before we could figure out if we had any allergies to them, we decided to pack up and take just a couple more shots on our way back to the car.  All in all, everything turned out great.  Good job Mom and Dad, you are going to be on your toes for the next couple years with your curious Baby Girl!

Feel the Love

This was my second year photographing this family outdoors.  It is such a treat to have repeat clients.  One of my favorite things is seeing how families have grown over the year.  Last year, Little Sister was pretty intimidated by my mad peek-a-boo skills.  I think she might be warming up to me this year!  It was so much fun looking through the images for this session.  Can you feel all the love?  This family is definitely connected to one another and it shows!

Fun on a Farm

I had such a great time meeting up with new family.  Their selected location was at a private residence--a farm in Hillsboro, OR!  What a great location for family photos, too!  There were a lot of fun spots to select from, and even a little pony who was determined to make me his/her best friend.  The sweet thing kept nudging me while I was shooting away and wouldn't stop until I took the time to pet it.  The barn added a rustic look and served as some good entertainment to keep the kids happy during the session.  We even took some time to enjoy the little caterpillar like creatures (I forgot what they were called) on the foliage.  Overall, it was an interesting change in environment for shooting outdoors.  Summer has just flown by!

Newborn A

My blog has been so neglected since moving my clients over to
I am going to try to do a better job at keeping this site updated!

This is my third year being able to do photos for this family.  I first met them on an extended Family Session with an old classmate of mine.  That was back when their first little one was still inside his mama's tummy!  While I am very sad to miss doing an extended family session with the rest of the members this year, it is so much fun meeting up with this little (and growing) part of the family each year, and this time there was a good excuse for some frilly pink and purple!

During this session I also tried using a sling for the first time.  I wasn't sure how we would do, but we took proper precautions and gave it a shot.  I've included a simple how to demonstration below.  It's always important to keep the baby's safety as a top priority.  With that said, the final product definitely melts my heart!

Alright, here is my little insider secret for the sling shot. The two ends of the hammock were tied securely to two kitchen chairs, with their backs opposite each other. A full beanbag was placed directly below the sling for some slight support and in case the little one squirmed out.  And she WAS a squirmy one and did almost roll out once!  I cannot stress this enough, do not attempt this without taking proper safety measures!

As you can tell from the how-to shots, the baby was just barely lifted and somew
hat touching the beanbag below.  Dad was right next to her the whole time. She was a squiggly one so it worked best to wait until she was fast asleep to attempt the shot. The background was touched up post-processing to give it that hanging in the air look.

And here is one more shot of the sling.  Aw, so precious!!!

Summer Session Information

WOW, it has been SO long since I have blogged!  I have had a ton of fun in the studio during the wet and rainy seasons.  To catch you up a bit on our happenings, here are a few of my favorite images...

BUT... here comes the SUN!!!  I am itching for the fun the outdoors will bring.  So much so, that I am starting to take pictures of random children (with permission) at the parks my family has been playing at!  Look at this cutie!!!

This year I am only able to offer a limited amount of sessions.  While I would absolutely LOVE to be doing photography full time I also really, absolutely enjoy having my four kiddos at home with me during the summer.  Here is a little preview of what our summer will be like...

We have a ton of fun on the schedule for our family so that puts a limit on the amount of sessions I have to offer this year.  10 Regular Sessions and 10 Half Sessions to be exact.  Some of those spot have already been filled.  So if you are looking to have your pictures done this summer, please contact me at ASAP to schedule a session and to get your deposits in.

You can find session information under the "Session Pricing" tab at

I would like to offer a couple dates at some of the Portland City Parks (Rhododendron Gardens, Rose Gardens, Laurelhurst Park, Tanner Springs/Pearl district, Cathedral Park, etc.) but need to have at least two sessions at each of those locations per date because of the extra fees required to shoot there.  So if any of those locations interest you, let me know right away and I can put the word out to hopefully make it happen.  And in case you are wondering...

Yes, the studio is still open so if you want, indoor sessions are available too!

We have too much fun to close it for the summer!!!
